On July
26-27, 2010 Nakhon Ratchasima will celebrate its annual
Buddhist Lent Candle Festival again.
The event will showcase Buddhist art in the form of sculpted and
moulded Buddhist Lent candles which will be presented to local
temples as Buddhist merit-making offerings for the Buddhist Lent
or Khao Pansa.
The magnificent works of candle art will depict various themes
such as scenes from the life of Lord Buddha and Buddhist tales,
tributes to His Majesty the King, cultural themes, traditions
and the various cultural highlights of Nakhon Ratchasima
province.
The Buddhist Lent Candle Procession, the night procession of
illuminated candles along Asdang Road and a light-and-sound
presentation are the key highlights of the two-day festival.
Visitors to the event are also invited to participate in
Buddhist merit-making by presenting ritual offerings to Buddhist
monks.
In addition to the sculpted and moulded candle contests and the
candle procession contest, other attractions include a food
festival offering a great variety of local delicacies and folk
entertainment, especially stage drama.
